About this show
She didn’t join a cult. She helped build it. And then realised she couldn't get out. When a young New York actress meets an American Guru and follows him to the desert, promises of enlightenment quickly descend into a web of sex, death and madness. After 17 years inside a global spiritual organisation, managing the chaos, she finally leaves. Sharp, unsettling and darkly funny, The Kingmaker examines charisma, complicity and the strange seduction of certainty. Based on a true story. Created by ‘Mouse’. Directed by Ben Target (LORENZO).
