Hello, Irish comedian Marty Gleeson whispers gently but sternly, her hand outstretched, one eye lit like a spark, the other dead behind it. Come on. Unnerved but excited, you take her hand. Gleeson begins to buck and screech; her sparky eye glows brighter. The other falls right out of her head. Leave it, she growls, pulling you headfirst into her debut hour, Dog Ear. There’s something kind of rebellious in Marty Gleeson’s debut, which takes the form of no stand-up show I’ve seen before.
Marty has that difficult skill of making a carefully planned and meticulously crafted show appear off the cuff and effortless, while retaining impeccable delivery and comic timing.
