About this show
Written anonymously and first staged in the Renaissance, Swetnam The Woman-Hater, is where the word misogyny comes from. Star-crossed lovers, swordfights and sexism in the 16th century – it has it all. But how could that possibly be relevant today? Come and judge for yourself... The second show brought to you by Cumbrian production company Acting Speaks Louder, creators of Disco, Baby? 'Outstanding' (FringeReview.co.uk). Created and produced by three up-and-coming artists working across music and theatre. If they don’t take the Fringe by storm, at least there'll be plenty of rain when they get home!

Acting Speaks Louder’s electric youth brought their adaptation of 17th century Swetnam The Woman-hater to the Edinburgh Fringe with such energy that you couldn’t help but want to join them onstage.
The 1620 comedy Swetnam the Woman-Hater Arraigned by Women is something of an exclamation point on what is a sadly understudied but nevertheless fascinating era of gender politicking in literary and theatrical history.
herefore Art Thou, Woman-Hater? is a loose interpretation of the anonymous Jacobean comedy Swetnam the Woman-Hater Arraigned by Women. How loose? Well, this one certainly has 100% more rap battles. 3 Stars
