About this show

Fifteen years after the competition that ruined their lives, five damaged adults try to understand what happened to them as children. Veruca, Augustus, Violet, and Mike are all grown up and haunted by what happened to them on that fabled factory tour. Watched over by their new landlord, Charlie, they must grapple with the consequences of their childhood trauma. Waiting for Wonka is an unauthorised parody sequel to one of the most enduring stories of the 20th century. 'A slick, engaging piece of theatre with humour, pathos and a clear theatrical know-how' ½ (The Student).

  • 4.5 Stars Waiting for Wonka features clever writing and some slick staging. While it isn’t going to set the world alight, it is a thoroughly enjoyable, dark-edged comedy that is well worth a visit.

    The Reviews Hub

  • Overall, this is solidly done and very quirky bit of theatre with some very memorable moments. An excellent parody of all things Wonka and well worth seeking out.

Starburst Magazine (4 out of 5 stars)

  • It is a terrific concept and frequently laugh out loud funny. Veruca, Augustus, Violet and Mike are adults now, each carrying the consequences of what happened inside the world’s least regulated confectionery factory.
