About this show

Neutral Milk Hotel's indie-rock triumph In the Aeroplane Over the Sea and Anne Frank's stunning and candid The Diary of a Young Girl fuse with confessions from Salty's adolescent longings in this genre-defying cabaret with wit, spectacle and heart. Sparks fly, time bends, and the ghosts of our past return to us in this hilarious and devastating work from Salty's acclaimed and expansive Living Record Collection. 'Astounding' * (Stage). * (List). 'A storyteller in total command of voice, a cocked eyebrow and his audience' (Guardian).

What the reviewers said

We have captured 5 published reviews and 20 audience reviews for this show from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe’s own listing. The excerpts below are the reviewers’ words, not ours — follow each link for the full review.

  • Compared with the mega-productions running on the West End and Broadway, Fringe shows have fewer industrial spectacles.

    Wee Review

  • Salty Brine does not simply perform an album. He takes it apart, rummages around inside it, follows its obsessions down unexpected rabbit holes, then somehow puts the whole thing back together again in front of us.

North West End UK (5 out of 5 stars)

  • Neutral Milk Hotel’s In The Aeroplane Over The Sea is a lo-fi indie rock album that had a negligible impact on the late 20th century’s alternative music scene but has since gained a significant cult recognition.
