About this show

School is a nightmare, boys are infuriating and Maccies is the only place open after 6pm. Growing up isn’t easy, but it’s even harder when you are from a place where no one expects anything of you. Especially if you’re queer or the new girl at school. Beth, Rachel, Zahidah, Ellie and Chloe are stuck: stuck in their drama group, stuck in school and stuck in their small town. Gossip, chaos and brutal honesty build into a funny, painfully familiar look at friendship, sexuality and teenage girlhood in a town that feels far too small.

What the reviewers said

We have captured 3 published reviews and 32 audience reviews for this show from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe’s own listing. The excerpts below are the reviewers’ words, not ours — follow each link for the full review.

  • If there is one thing Our Town Needs a Nando’s understands, it is that there is very little to do in a small Scottish town. Its solution? Peri-peri chicken.

The Student (4 out of 5 stars)

  • Our Town Needs A Nando’s is an impressive display of talent, but falls short with the amount of content it wishes to fit into a fifty minute runtime.

All Edinburgh Theatre (3 out of 5 stars)

  • Anyone who survived high school drama classes will instantly recognise the tropes: synchronised movement, dramatic unison speaking, and heavy-handed moral warnings.
