About this show

Valerie Faris and Jonathan Dayton’s glorious debut features a dysfunctional family embarking on a ragtag road trip so that 10-year-old Olive can compete in a beauty pageant. A breakout smash at Sundance Film Festival in 2006, this is an era-defining American indie comedy brimming with wit, intelligence, humour and deep empathy for its richly drawn characters. First-class performances from a superb cast including Toni Collette, Steve Carell, Greg Kinnear, Paul Dano and Alan Arkin, a sublime score by Mychael Danna and Devotchka and a special 20th-anniversary restoration make this a real treat on the big screen.
