About this show

The age-old tale of love and sorrow is perhaps as old as humanity itself; it is inextricably linked to the human condition. Besides writers, composers have also repeatedly explored this theme. In this concert, we tell our own unique version of the story, for example through Vaughan Williams' Suite for viola, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach's Sonata for viola da gamba, several "snapshots" from Richard Strauss's inexhaustible repertoire of songs, and also Ludwig van Beethoven's Variations on Mozart's Ein Mädchen oder Weibchen – a musically exciting, moving and ultimately very comforting story set
